How Long Does a Dry Needling Appointment Take in Jacksonville?

A dry needling session at Full Swing Healthcare typically runs 20 to 35 minutes. First visits run longer because the assessment comes before any needles go in. Return visits are more focused and generally on the shorter end of that range unless multiple muscle groups are being addressed.

What the First Visit Looks Like

Dr. Muren conducts a thorough intake and examination before the first dry needling session. He needs to understand the full clinical picture: what is driving the pain, which muscles are involved, what underlying joint or postural issues are contributing, and whether dry needling is the right tool for your specific presentation. That assessment takes 20 to 30 minutes on its own. The needling portion at the end of the first visit then runs 15 to 20 minutes.

Plan for 45 to 60 minutes total for your first appointment. We do not skip the assessment to save time.

Return Visits

On subsequent visits we reassess the trigger point map before each session. What was active at the last visit may have changed, either resolving or shifting as the pattern responds to treatment. The reassessment takes a few minutes. Needling then runs 20 to 30 minutes depending on how many structures are being treated.

We often combine dry needling with chiropractic adjustment in the same visit. When that happens, plan for 30 to 45 minutes total. The sequencing matters: we usually do the adjustment first so the joint correction precedes the soft tissue work, which allows the muscular treatment to build on corrected mechanics rather than on the pre-adjustment restriction.

Frequency and Total Sessions

Most acute presentations see meaningful improvement in two to four sessions. Chronic patterns that have been established for months take longer. We reassess after every three to four sessions and give you an updated picture of the trajectory. Call (904) 539-3352. 13770 Beach Blvd #4, Jacksonville FL 32224.
