Can I Use VA Benefits for Chiropractic in Jacksonville?
Yes. Full Swing Healthcare accepts VA Community Care Network benefits for chiropractic care. Eligible veterans can receive treatment here through a community care referral from their VA primary care team.
A veteran came to us who had been dealing with chronic lumbar pain for years. He was stationed at Naval Air Station Jacksonville and had been seen at the VA for this issue but lived on the Southside, closer to our Beach Blvd location than to the VA clinic. His VA provider issued a community care referral and he came to us under that authorization. Dr. Muren assessed him, developed a treatment plan, and we coordinated the documentation back to the VA. He completed his authorized visits and told us the access to care closer to home made it easier for him to show up consistently. Consistency is most of the battle with chronic musculoskeletal conditions.
How VA Community Care Works for Chiropractic
The VA Community Care Program allows eligible veterans to receive care from approved private providers when the VA cannot provide that care in a timely manner or when a veteran meets certain eligibility criteria. Chiropractic care is a covered benefit through the VA. When a community care referral is issued, the VA authorizes a defined number of visits at an approved private clinic like Full Swing Healthcare.
The referral comes from your VA primary care provider or care coordinator, not from us. We cannot initiate a community care referral on your behalf. What we can do is confirm that we participate in the VA Community Care Network and help you understand the process when you call.
What VA Community Care Covers at Full Swing Healthcare
VA community care authorizations for chiropractic typically cover spinal manipulation and associated chiropractic evaluation. The specific services and visit counts authorized depend on the referral your VA team generates. Dr. Muren documents every visit thoroughly, which is essential for VA coordination. That documentation supports any future authorizations if additional visits are needed.
Jacksonville's Veteran Population
Jacksonville has a large and active military and veteran community. Naval Station Mayport and Naval Air Station Jacksonville are two of the region's major installations, and many veterans and active duty families live throughout the Beaches, Southside, and Mandarin areas that surround our Beach Blvd location. We treat veterans regularly and understand the documentation requirements and communication expectations that VA-coordinated care involves. We do not treat VA community care as a complicated exception. It is a routine part of how we work.
What If You Don't Have a Referral Yet
If you have not yet obtained a community care referral, the process starts with your VA primary care provider. Contact your VA care team and request a community care referral for chiropractic. Mention that Full Swing Healthcare participates in the Community Care Network. Your VA team will verify our participation and issue the referral if you meet eligibility criteria.
If you are not yet in the VA system or are unsure of your eligibility, call us at (904) 539-3352. We can discuss self-pay options and connect you with general information about the community care process while you navigate enrollment.
