Yes, and the sooner you come in, the better your outcome and your insurance coverage. Full Swing Healthcare treats car accident injuries every week, and we know both the clinical side and the insurance side. The most important thing after any accident in Florida is not to wait.
Florida’s 14-Day PIP Window
Florida’s Personal Injury Protection law requires you to seek initial medical treatment within 14 days of the accident date. That clock does not care when your symptoms showed up, how mild they felt, or how packed your schedule was. Miss that window and your PIP coverage is gone, permanently. Because of this we reserve same-day appointments specifically for accident patients. Call us the day of the accident or the day after and we will fit you in.
What Chiropractic Does for Accident Injuries
The standard ER visit rules out fractures, which is important, but X-rays show nothing about facet joint irritation, ligament strain, or disc stress. You can leave the emergency room with a completely normal imaging report and still have a significant cervical spine injury. That is not an unusual outcome; it is how whiplash works.
At Full Swing Healthcare, Dr. Cody Muren and Dr. Eric Hall assess active range of motion, run orthopedic tests, and palpate the specific spinal segments involved. That hands-on examination identifies what actually happened and drives the treatment plan. Beyond the neck, we routinely find:
- Thoracic restriction from the seatbelt catching across the chest
- Lumbar disc stress from the sudden compressive load of the impact
- Shoulder strain from bracing against the steering wheel
- Headaches that develop in a guarding pattern days after the initial event
A thorough first exam covers all of these, not just the spot that hurts most on day one.
A Real Case on Beach Blvd
A patient came to us nine days after a rear-end collision on Beach Blvd. She had gone to the ER the night of the accident and was told she was fine. By day six she had developed a persistent headache and could not rotate her neck fully to the right. Dr. Muren found significant restriction at C4-C5 with deep cervical flexor trigger points that had developed in a guarding pattern. Six visits cleared the headache and restored full range of motion. She had five days left in her PIP window when she called us, she made it, but just barely.
Documentation and Billing, We Handle It
We manage all PIP documentation and billing from visit one. You focus on getting better; we handle the insurance side. We work with Florida Blue, United Healthcare, Humana, Cigna, Florida Medicaid, and VA benefits in addition to PIP. Our first visit, which includes the full examination, is $115. Follow-up visits are $50.
