Where Can I Get Shockwave Therapy for Knee Pain in Jacksonville?

We offer shockwave therapy for knee pain at Full Swing Healthcare, with the best results in patellar tendinopathy and chronic IT band presentations that have been present long enough to stop responding to rehabilitation alone.

Patellar Tendinopathy

Patellar tendinopathy is common in athletes who do a lot of jumping, running, or cycling. The tendon at its patellar insertion becomes painful with loading, particularly on stairs and when rising from a chair. Early-stage presentations respond well to eccentric loading protocols. After three to four months without resolution, the tendon is often tendinotic rather than inflammatory, and shockwave is the most effective conservative option available.

The IT Band

IT band syndrome at the lateral femoral condyle is technically a compression issue rather than a pure tendinopathy, but the fascial and connective tissue involvement at the site responds to shockwave when the pain has become chronic. We combine shockwave with assessment of the hip mechanics that are creating the IT band loading pattern in the first place. Treating the IT band without addressing the hip is treating the result rather than the cause.

What We Found With One Patient

A triathlete from the Beaches area came to us with bilateral patellar tendinopathy that had been limiting her training for four months. She had done physical therapy including a proper eccentric loading program. The tendons had improved but plateaued. Five sessions of shockwave combined with chiropractic correction of her hip mechanics returned her to full training. She commented afterward that she wished she had come sooner rather than spending months on exercises that had stopped producing results.

For Degenerative Knee Pain

Osteoarthritic knee pain is a different situation. Shockwave has a role in some degenerative presentations but the assessment is more complex. If you have a known arthritis diagnosis and are wondering whether shockwave is appropriate, call us and describe the situation. We will tell you honestly whether it makes sense to come in.
