What Acupuncture Can and Cannot Do

Acupuncture does not override biology. It does not correct chromosomal abnormalities or resolve structural reproductive issues. What it can do is optimize the physiological environment in ways that may support fertility outcomes: regulating hormone signaling through its effects on the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis, improving blood flow to the uterus and ovaries, reducing cortisol levels that suppress reproductive function under chronic stress, and improving the sleep quality and autonomic regulation that the fertility treatment process consistently disrupts.

Most of our fertility acupuncture patients are working with reproductive endocrinologists on IVF or IUI protocols. The conversation we want them to have with their medical teams is about acupuncture as a complement to that protocol, not as an alternative to it.

Who We Work With

We treat women at various stages of the fertility process: before they begin medical treatment, during IVF or IUI cycles, and in the early weeks of pregnancy when acupuncture may support implantation. We also treat the systemic tension and stress that accumulates during fertility treatment, which is emotionally and physically demanding regardless of the outcome at any given stage.
