How Long Does a Chiropractic Appointment Take?

Your first appointment at Full Swing Healthcare runs 45 to 60 minutes. That includes a full health history intake, orthopedic and neurological examination, and your first treatment. We do not skip the assessment to speed things up. Return visits for a standard adjustment run 20 to 30 minutes. If we are combining the adjustment with dry needling or soft tissue work, plan for 30 to 45 minutes.

Why the First Visit Takes Longer

We need to understand what is actually wrong before we touch you. That means going through your history, understanding what makes your pain better or worse, reviewing any imaging or prior records you bring, and doing a hands-on assessment of the relevant structures. For spinal complaints, that includes range of motion measurement, orthopedic provocation tests, and palpation to locate the specific segments involved.

The treatment at the end of the first visit is more targeted because of that assessment. We know which segments are restricted, where the trigger points are, and what technique is appropriate. Patients who have had chiropractic elsewhere and experienced a quick adjustment without much examination often notice the difference.

If You Have a Complex History

Patients with a long history of musculoskeletal problems, multiple prior injuries, or significant imaging findings should plan for a slightly longer first visit. Dr. Muren takes extra time with complex cases because the treatment plan depends on understanding the full picture. Rushing the intake on a complex case produces worse outcomes.
